Educational Leadership and Policy Studies

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website! Our department consists of a vibrant group of faculty, staff, and students who are committed to developing and sustaining a culture of respect, collaboration, excellence, and celebration. We are deeply committed to working with educators, students, parents, and community members to create and sustain approaches to school leadership that build on the assets of students and their families as a means of developing schools that promote the high achievement of all children.

We are appreciative of the fact that our college and university level administrators share our passion for providing high-quality professional preparation programs that fuse excellence, social justice, research, and practice. Consistent with these ideals, faculty in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies have identified three objectives to frame our professional leadership preparation programs at both the master's and doctoral level:

  1. Prepare leaders to lead high achieving schools serving diverse populations;

  2. Guide educators to identify and understand individual, community, and cultural based assets that can support high achievement; and

  3. Link leadership preparation to instruction in early childhood education; reading; science; social studies; math; and culture, language, and literacy.

We appreciate your interest in our department and encourage you to contact us with any questions you may have.
